A split second of spinning, a lifetime of letting go

A surge of emotion
bursts through my consciousness
unexpected, profound
courage arrives unannounced.

A feeling surfaces
refusing oblivion
I grasp what lay hidden
embedded within.

Recognition strikes
amid surrounding turmoil
trembling thoughts tumble
upending my life.

In a split second of spinning
change takes hold
something releases
an inner world opens.

Like an oyster revealing a pearl
I open to the woman behind my eyes
My heart whispers 
breathe.
