A Flick of the Thumb – Tags: , , , , , , , ,

PoetryΒ β™₯

A poem about overwhelm, comfortable numbness, and the silence we create.

The world aflame
Global chaos
Endless war
A flick of the thumb. Gone.

We sift
through fragments.
Catch glimpses
Of others’ pain β€”
Stray echoes in quiet rooms.

The past, our beacon
whispers loudly
a flashing warning light.
We silence it.

The world crashes
Through our barriers
Demanding presence
Suffocating defences
Hands on ears. Be gone.

Digging ourselves
deeper into
the warm duvet
we sigh. All is well.
